Job Title: 2014 Holiday Art Sale Assistant

Compensation: PAID Internship

Description: Pratt Fine Arts Center seeks a resourceful and motivated candidate to assist with its 2014 Holiday Art Sale (HAS). Working closely with Pratt’s Community Events Manager, the Holiday Art Sale Assistant will gain valuable experience in special event production, exhibition design and logistics, artist relations, project management and data management. A $1000 stipend is available for this position.

Responsibilities Include:

Assist with administration of HAS call to artists
Communication support regarding deadline reminders, artwork inventory, installation/deinstallation, artist commissions
Assist with jurying process and artist notification
Assist with HAS inventory management
Assist with artist check-in, installation and deinstallation
Coordination of volunteer sales associates
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications Include:

Strong interest in local arts sector, particularly non-profit arts organizations
One year minimum experience working, studying or volunteering in arts or nonprofit organizations
Proficient computer skills, especially with Microsoft Office. Quick learner of required mobile point of sale system (Square)
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with a proven ability to meet deadlines
Excellent written and oral communication skills
An accountable and resourceful person who can work both independently and as a part of a team
Event Description: The 2014 Holiday Art Sale runs from November 20-30 in in Pratt’s 2D/print studios (a.k.a. yellow building – 1905 S. Main St., Seattle, WA 98144) – except Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27, 2014, when Pratt is closed.

A ticketed reception - Opening Night “First Dibs” Party - will be held on Thursday, November 20 from 6:00 to 9:00pm. Admission is $50 per guest, and all participating artists receive complimentary admission.

The sale, excluding the First Dibs Party, is free and open to the public. Sale hours are 11:00am to 7:00pm for the duration of the event.

Structure: Position runs Sept. 15 - Dec. 12, 2014 and requires on average 10 hours per week at Pratt Fine Arts Center; weekly schedule TBD based on candidate’s availability. Additional hours for the dates of Nov. 19-Dec. 1, which includes the Thanksgiving holiday, are required.

Organization Info: Founded in 1976, Pratt Fine Art Center is an eclectic, hands-on learning and working environment serving students, hobbyists, and professional artists throughout the Seattle area. Pratt welcomes over 3,500 students and 300 working artists annually in the areas of glassblowing, cast glass, flameworked glass, metal sculpture, bronze casting, stonecarving, jewelry and metalsmithing, woodworking, printmaking, painting and drawing. In total, Pratt classes, exhibitions, lectures and programs touch more than 20,000 people annually.
