Types of Classes + Workshops

Art Nights + Experiences

Pratt’s Art Nights + Experiences offer curious students a quick, 4-hour opportunity to explore a new medium.

Beginning Classes

Pratt’s Beginning Classes provide students with a thorough introduction to a new art form and Pratt’s professionally equipped studios. Over the course of several weeks, supportive instructors guide students through a project from start to finish, helping them develop new skills and teaching them about studio safety, equipment, and materials.

Intermediate Classes

Pratt’s Intermediate Classes build off Beginning Classes, allowing students to further develop their skills through a mix of instructor prompted and student inspired work/projects. Intermediate level classes also prepare students who are interested in becoming studio access users to use Pratt’s professionally equipped studios independently.

Advanced Classes

Pratt’s Advanced Classes offer a more mentored and student driven approach, designed to support experienced artists and students as they work to refine their skills. Advanced level classes typically offer students the opportunity to learn specialized techniques and access specialized equipment, as well as expand their practice and add to their creative toolkit.

One- & Two-Day Workshops

Pratt’s One- and Two-Day Workshops are specific project- or skill-based opportunities. These workshops are perfect for someone looking to acquire a specific skill or complete a predetermined project without committing to a multi-week class. These workshops are often holiday-themed or specialty classes.

Two-Day Intensives

Pratt’s Two-Day Intensives are designed to cover the content of a multi-week beginning class over the course of two days.

Family + Me Workshops

Pratt's Family & Me Program designated time and space for parents and caregivers to collaborate and work alongside their youth or teen. With a variety of disciples available in all of our studios, this is a great time to connect and make art together. Family & Me Workshops costs cover a pair of students, one youth/teen student and one accompanying adult, parent/caregiver. Age requirements differ by medium and studio.

Youth Fundamentals of Art Classes

Pratt’s Youth Fundamentals of Art classes run fall, winter and spring during the school year on Saturdays and Sundays. This 5-week art class, for youth ages 5-13, explores self-expression through painting, drawing, sculpture and other media. Students get to explore a variety of styles and techniques in each discipline, while exploring their own creativity and choice of subject. These classes are offered with a Pay-What-You-Can model, the amounts each cover a part of the program's future by funding a more accessible art experience for all students.

Teen Night Classes

Pratt’s Teen Night Classes are specifically designed for teens (13–18) who want to explore art making in a professional studio environment. Pratt provides opportunities for teens to develop their resilience in problem solving, risk-taking, and communicating ideas through making art. Classes are available in all of our studios including blacksmithing, glass blowing, jewelry, and much more.
