Glass Studios

From glassblowing and flameworking to sandblasting, coldworking, and kiln working, Pratt's Glass Studios are fully-equipped to meet the needs of students and artists at many levels of experience.

Our studios offer:

The Hot Shop: Available for both blowing and casting glass.

975 lb. day tank with Spectrum Premium Nuggets
3 glory holes of 15", 18" and 24" diameter appropriate for any size work
annealing included with rental, rental option for more and/or longer cycles
full array of hand tools, garage, powder booth, hot plate, oxygen/propane torches

Rates:
Glassblowing: $145/four hour slot on any glory hole
Pratt Hot Shop Rental card awards $50 discount to the 5th blowslot purchased.

Full Shop/Full Day: $540
includes 2 glory holes and full use of the studio space (morning & afternoon slots only)

Hot Glass Casting: Information upon request

Kilns & Ovens:
$30/day: annealer #4
$20/day: annealer #5
2 long cycle annealers (extra charge)
1 casting annealer (extra charge)
included with blowslot rental:
one top loading and two front loading blowing annealers,one pick-up oven, one color oven

The Cold Shop: The only rentable cold shop in Seattle! Completely remodeled fall of 2006

belt sander, 2 loose grit flat wheels, 1 diamond pad flat wheel, drill press, Spatzier lathe with sintered and electro-plated wheel sets, polishing lathe, two diamond saws, flex shaft, and hand lapping supplies

Rates: $15/hr (with $15 minimum)

Two pressure pot sandblasters with 100g and 150g aluminum oxide

The Flameworking Studio:

Pratt's flameworking studio is fully equipped to meet the needs of flameworking artists at any level.

11 work stations
Large selection of Red Max, Nortel, Major and Minor torches on liquid oxygen
2 bead kilns, 3 medium annealing kilns and 2 annealing kilns for larger work
full array of hand tools
ventilation

Rates: $30/day or $150/month

The Fusing Studio:

5 fusing ovens on GB5 controller
ample workspace with light tables, hand tools, slumping molds and kiln furniture
Rayzist kit, wet diamond edge grinder
oval kiln for kiln casting
