Throughout the year, Pratt invites artists of national and international renown to teach master-level workshops in our studios. In addition to sharing their specialized skills and inspiration, many artists present lectures that are open to the public.

Master Artist Lecture with Whiting Tennis

Where: Pratt Fine Arts Center
Pratt welcomes renowned artist Whiting Tennis to the sculpture and drawing studios this spring. While at Pratt, Tennis will teach a 4-week class From Drawings to Sculpture, in Pratt's newly opened Wood Studio. Students will work from drawings to develop three dimensional maquette constructions in cardboard, wood, paint, found materials and plaster castings.
Whiting Tennis was born in Hampton, VA in 1959 and received a BFA from the University of Washington in 1984. His work has been featured in solo exhibitions at the Tang Teaching Museum at Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, NY; Greg Kucera Gallery, Seattle, WA; and Derek Eller Gallery, New York, NY. Tennis has received numerous awards including the Arlene Schnitzer Prize, the Neddy Artist Fellowship, and a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant. Tennis lives and works in Seattle, WA.
