An important part of Pratt’s mission is to offer a wide array of financial aid and scholarship opportunities including tuition assistance, workstudy, and scholarships. Listed below are the various opportunities available at Pratt to meet many financial support needs.
Tuition Assistance

A limited amount of financial assistance is available each quarter to adults and youth who otherwise cannot afford to participate in classes or workshops. Applications are due Friday, August 1 by 5:00pm. Click here to download a WORD or PDF version of the application.

Workstudy Opportunities

A limited number of work-study opportunities are available each quarter. Participating students earn credit toward tuition fees in exchange for assisting with front desk staffing, general administrative support, studio and class assistants or special projects.

Scholarships:

Pratt Fine Arts Center is pleased to offer ten distinct scholarships. All of the awards are to be used in programs offered at Pratt. There are scholarships for adults and teens, artists of color, and emerging and established artists. We offer scholarships in all of the visual arts disciplines taught in our studios. All of the scholarships are juried by non-Pratt affiliated persons and are either merit or financial-need based.

We thank all of the individuals, families and organizations who contribute each year to the funding ot these scholarships. NEW

The Art Bridge Fellowship provides 4 emerging artists from Washington State with stipends towards course work, supplies, and portfolio development for one year at Pratt Fine Arts Center. The program includes educational experiences including gaining technical expertise, prefessional training, access to equipment, and an opportunity to engage with the Pratt artistic community and the art community at large. Program details and the application will be available beginning February 18. Application materials are due June 30th for Fellowships to begin Fall of 2008.

Glass

Jon and Mary Shirley Scholarship (merit/adult) for emerging artists. Two scholarships are provided. (due July 1st)

Debora Moore Scholarship: Established by artist Debora Moore, this award is designed to provide single parents or single primary care givers with the opportunity to expand their skills in glass. One scholarship of $1,500 will be awarded and can be used towards tuition, membership, and studio rental. The award will be given to an emerging artist demonstrating financial need and a commitment to their art. The recipient should focus on exploring new techniques or taking their work to the next level. This scholarship will be available for the academic year starting September 2008.  ( Due August 8th)

Painting and Drawing

Vascovitz Family Scholarship in Drawing and Painting (merit/financial need/adult). Scholarships are awarded to two emerging artists. (Due July 1st)

Vascovitz Teen Scholarship in Drawing and Painting (merit/financial need). Four scholarships to be used by teens in Pratt's summer drawing and painting classes. (Due July 1st)

Printmaking

Seattle Print Arts Scholarship (merit/adult): One scholarship to a student with a dedicated interest and commitment to printmaking. ( Due July 1st)

Any Studio

PONCHO/PRATT Artist-in- Residence (merit/adult): Each year, four emerging artists from Washington State are selected for this merit program sponsored by PONCHO. Artists are provided with an honorarium and credit towards classes or studio use. Artists also participate in the annual exhibition. (Due July 1st)

Gregory M. Robinson Pathways Scholarship (merit/adult): This financial need scholarship was founded by Greg Robinson to support artists of color and to promote diversity at Pratt. The award is designed to provide intensive and sustained training and technical support for artists of color who wish to pursue a specific pathway. (Due July 1st)

PohlmanKnowles High School Scholarship (teenagers with a desire to explore art!): Established in honor of glass artists, Jenny Pohlman and Sabrina Knowles. (Due July 1st)

Italo Scanga (financial need/merit/teens and young adults) Established by Pedro and Wanda Pelayo in honor of Italo Scanga to celebrate his life as a multi-media artist. The award is designed to provide teens and young adults of color with the opportunity to explore their talents in various studios. (This is available for all studios except jewelry).  Two scholarships for teens 15-19 years of age. Two scholarships for young adults 20-25 years of age. ( Due August 8th)

Mimi would! Scholarship (merit/financial need). For emerging artists with a demonstrated commitment to their art. One scholarship is awarded. Established in honor of Mimi Pierce.  (Due July 1st)
