Instructors of the Year 2007-2008

Carla Grahn, Sculpture Studio

Carla Grahn has studied forging, welding and bronze casting for 10 years. She was the 1994 Dan Starr Scholarship recipient in Pratt's Sculpture Department. Grahn has shown in numerous group shows as well as solo shows-most recently at Davidson Gallery. Her work can be seen locally at Brasa, Campagne, Marjoie and the University of Washington . She has been teaching at Pratt for more than a decade.


Lisa Hasegawa, Print Studio

Lisa Hasegawa received an MFA in Book Arts/Printmaking from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia and a BFA in Printmaking from the University of Washington . Lisa is a board member of Seattle Center for Book Arts, Organizer/Co-Founder of the Postcard Exchange, member of the Amalgamated Printers' Association and sole proprietor of ilfant press. Her work has received several awards and has been exhibited nationally. Her artist's books and prints are collected by the University of Washington , The University of the Arts, the University of Wisconsin-Madison , Yale University and the University of Vermont .


Julia Hensley, 2-D Studio

Julia Hensley received a BFA with honors from Boston University in 1989 and has shown her work in galleries in Boston , Seattle , San Francisco and New York . She has taught drawing and painting to adults since 1999 at the Kirkland Arts Center , North Seattle Community College , and Pratt Fine Arts Center and the Frye Art Museum . Amy Reeves, Jewelry/Metalsmithing

Amy Reeves earned a BFA from the University of Washington. She has studied with Andy Cooperman, Virginia Causey and Maria Phillips, among others. She is represented by Sculpture to Wear Gallery, California.

 

 

 


Susan Balshor, Glass Studio

Susan Balshor has MA degrees in Sculpture and Philosophy. She has attended Pilchuck as a scholarship recipient, Teaching Assistant, Artist Assistant, and as an instructor in 2004. For the past twenty years, she has been working in both fine and industrial arts. Her work is primarily mixed media incorporating bronze, wood, glass, plaster, steel and paint.


Cathy Chase, Glass Studio

Cathy Chase earned a BFA from The Evergreen State College and has been teaching at Pratt since 1997. She has taught at Urban Glass in New York, Pilchuck Glass School, and the National College of Art and Design in Dublin, Ireland. Her work is in several private and public collections.
